2025 Ford Bronco Ditches Wireless Charging Pad

It was just this past August when the 2024 AutoPacific’s Future Attribute Demand Study (FADS) was released highlighting wireless charging as the most coveted feature consumers are seeking in new vehicles, with 44 percent indicating that they want this in their next vehicle for front seat occupants, and 37 percent seeking wireless charging for rear seat passengers. However, The Blue Oval has been slowly removing wireless charging from some of its newer vehicles, which includes the 2025 Ford Mustang lineup. Now, the 2025 Ford Bronco is following suit, too.

According to Bronco Nation, the wireless charging pad previously present in the rugged SUV has now been removed from the 2025 Ford Bronco lineup entirely. That feature was previously part of the High/Lux Packages for 2024, but the High portion of that package is now gone, while the newly renamed Lux Package has deleted the wireless charging pad for the new model year. In the 2025 Ford Bronco, the Lux Package includes the 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, the 12-speaker B&O sound system, Evasive Steering Assist, front parking sensors, the Information on Demand panel, LED approach and spotlight lamps on the side mirrors, and a universal garage door opener.

Aside from this change, the 2025 Ford Bronco lineup has been treated to a host of other updates for the new model year, too. Those changes include a trim level lineup reshuffling that includes the deletion of the Wildtrak, Everglades, Heritage Limited, and Black Diamond series, though the latter moniker is now being used as the name for a newly optional package. The Bronco Base is making a comeback after being absent for one model year, and the new Stroppe Edition is effectively taking the place of the Wildtrak, while the retro-themed Free Wheeling Package is also making its debut.

As for the rest of the lineup, the 12-inch digital gauge cluster is now included as standard equipment, the Bronco Badlands has gained the HOSS 3.0 suspension as an option, and the FITS system present in the Ford Maverick is now available, too. In four-door models equipped with the 10-speed automatic transmission, the rear HVAC vents have moved from the floor to the rear portion of the center console, though much of the lineup has lost its grab handles. The 2025 Ford Bronco Raptor is adding three new exterior color options – Marsh Gray, Desert Sand, and Ruby Red – though six others have been deleted, a list that consists of Cactus Gray, Iconic Silver, Hot Pepper Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Peak Blue, Race Red, and Yellowstone.

  1. I’d like to hear an explanation of why wireless chargers are now eliminated. Could it be because they are flakey and may or may not work but mostly don’t? Or is it because phones overheat when on the wireless chargers for an extended time period? And maybe it’s also because Ford’s inept engineers are incapable of making these chargers works reliably.

    1. While they worked fine with the older iPhones like the 11 I had, they don’t seem to work very well with the newer ones like my iPhone 14 which uses higher voltage charging.
