2025 Ford Expedition Production Begins In January

Following months of rumors, speculation, and prototype sightings, the refreshed 2025 Ford Expedition finally debuted last night, ushering in a host of rather notable changes for the full-size mainstream market SUV. As such, there are certainly at least a few prospective customers out there that will be interested in purchasing one. We already know that order banks for the 2025 Ford Expedition are scheduled to open up on October 24th, 2024, with the first deliveries expected to begin in the spring of 2025. Now, Ford Authority has learned when production of the revamped SUV will start, too.

According to sources familiar with the matter, 2025 Ford Expedition production at the Kentucky Truck plant is currently scheduled to kick off on January 6th, 2025, though as is always the case, that date is subject to change. Regardless, those interested in the 2025 Ford Expedition will find that it has been treated to quite a few updates, in many cases, ones that could be called major.

The 2025 Ford Expedition will be available in regular and extended-length Max guise, along with trim levels consisting of the Active, King Ranch, Platinum, and the brand new off-road-focused Tremor, which effectively replaces the outgoing Timberline, as Ford Authority reported back in August. The entire lineup sports fresh styling both up front and in the rear, where one will find a nifty new feature called Ford Split Gate, which functions much like a regular tailgate on a pickup. The top three-quarters of the liftgate raises upward, while the lower portion folds down, and can support up to 500 pounds. The Split Gate also features a seatback as part of the optional Cargo Tailgate Manager, and can transform into a serving table, to boot.

Inside the cabin, the biggest change present in the 2025 Ford Expedition is the addition of a new 24-inch panoramic display that doubles as the instrument cluster and is paired with an 13.2-inch center screen running the fairly new Ford Digital Experience software. Power continues to come from the twin turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine, which churns out 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque in standard guise, or 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet in the high-output version, which is standard in the Tremor and optional on Platinum models.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
