All-new for the 2022 model year, the Ford F-150 Lightning has been treated to a host of changes since, but nothing that would amount to a mid-cycle refresh or redesign. Regardless, that’s also true of the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning, which is set to undergo a number of updates for the newest model year. For those planning to purchase a 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning, they likely won’t have to wait much longer to do so either, as Ford Authority has learned when production of that EV pickup is currently slated to begin.
According to sources familiar with the matter, 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning production at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center is currently scheduled to commence on November 12th, 2024 – coincidentally, the same day that production of the ICE-powered 2025 Ford F-150 is slated to start, at least at the Dearborn Truck plant in Michigan, after which it will hit the lines at the Kansas City Assembly plant in Missouri on December 9th. It’s worth noting, however, that these dates are all subject to change, as we’ve seen happen several times in the past.
Among the bevy of updates that will arrive with the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning launch, customers will be able to get the North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter needed to utilize Tesla’s Supercharger network as an option, though that part is currently being offered to existing owners for free – at least, for a limited time. In addition to this update, the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning Flash now comes with ActiveX seating as standard, rather than the cloth seats that were included for the 2024 model year. Additionally, the 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning lineup will drop its previously-standard eLocking rear axle, which is now part of the optional Max Trailer Tow Package, and the Interior Work Surface feature for the XLT and Flash trims has been deleted, though it’s still standard on the Lariat and Platinum.
The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning lineup has also dropped its formerly-standard (on the XLT and up) SecuriCode keypad, instead making it a dealer-installed option, which is the case with several Blue Oval models these days. Additionally, the 2025 F-150 Lightning will ditch its standard spare tire, replacing it with the Tire Inflator and Seal Kit, though the spare has become an optional upgrade. For the 2024 model year, a spare tire was included as standard equipment across the entire F-150 Lightning lineup.

What was the point of this comment?
They could build MILLION’S of these LIGHTNING’S and I would NEVER Buy One….. NEVER!!!!
I own a 2022 FORD 150 PRO Lightning. It’s been a very positive 60k miles – no oil changes, no weekly gas filler up, no expensive engine repairs. I’m ready to buy a battery upgrade to extend my 230 miles range.
I have a 2010 F150 that I love, but I am eager to trade it in for an electric truck. I haul, but do not tow. I go camping all of the time and want > 350-mile range before trading my truck in. I will probably buy one in the next 2 years.
