Since it was all-new for the 2024 model year, the 2025 Ford Ranger is soldiering on largely unchanged, though as is usually the case, the mid-size pickup is getting a few updates, regardless. Most of those updates are minor in nature and consist of the typical exterior color availability shuffling, along with various tweaks in regard to optional packages and other features. Now that the 2025 Ford Ranger build and price configurator is live, it also reveals that the pickup’s optional FX4 Off-Road Package is receiving a few minor tweaks, too.
The 2025 Ford Ranger FX4 Off-Road Package has removed the outlined white letter (OWL) tires that were previously included as standard, as well as the requirement that it be paired with running boards. Otherwise, for 2025, that package is optional on XLT and Lariat trimmed models, and requires four-wheel drive. It now includes an FX4 Off-Road box decal, exposed steel bash plates for the engine and transfer case, a fuel tank guard, an electronic locking differential, off-road tuned shocks, an off-road screen in the center stack, Trail Control, and two additional drive modes – Mud/Ruts and Sand, all for an extra $1,095. It’s worth noting that those purchasing a 2025 Ford Ranger with the FX4 Off-Road Package can still get 255/70R all-terrain OWL tires as an option, however.
Aside from these changes, the 2025 Ford Ranger is also gaining a new Black Appearance Package, as Ford Authority recently reported, which adds a host of darkened elements to the mid-size pickup. The 2025 Ranger has lost its factory-installed keyless entry keypad as well, which has been replaced by a dealer-installed version. The pickup is gaining three new exterior color options – Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Desert Sand, and Marsh Gray, though it’s also ditching Cactus Gray, Hot Pepper Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, and Iconic Silver Metallic.
These changes are capped off by some tweaks to the outgoing Chrome Appearance Package, which has been replaced by the new Chrome Accent Package, which features less shiny bits than before. Finally, the 2025 Ford Ranger lineup has received some modest price increases for the new model year, too.
