Ford BlueCruise One-Time Purchase Cannot Be Transferred

Not even a week after Ford revealed the forthcoming version 1.4 update for its BlueCruise hands-free highway driving assist feature, the automaker proceeded to make some notable changes to the ways that customers can purchase this particular option, too. Customers can now opt for a one-year BlueCruise plan or a one-time purchase option, the former of which is included as standard or as an option on various vehicle lines and trims. It will also continue to offer a 90-day complimentary trial, after which customers can opt to pay monthly or annually. However, there is one big caveat when it comes to the one-time BlueCruise purchase option that customers will want to be aware of.

The BlueCruise one-time purchase option gives customers the ability to pay $2,495 in a single upfront payment, after which no additional payments will be required to maintain access to that feature. This isn’t a lifelong commitment, however, as it’s only guaranteed for at least seven years, and possibly longer, and that isn’t the only piece of fine print. Also, those that choose the one-time BlueCruise purchase option should be aware that the feature is tied to their vehicle’s VIN – it can’t be transferred after the fact, meaning that if/when one chooses to sell the vehicle, the new owner will be able to take advantage of BlueCruise, but the seller can’t transfer it to another vehicle.

Otherwise, for 2025 model year vehicles, the one-year BlueCruise plan will either be included as standard or as an option when the vehicle is ordered for $495, based on the vehicle line and trim, and beginning with select 2025 model year vehicles, the one-time purchase will be available at vehicle order for the aforementioned cost of $2,495.

Ford BlueCruise Pricing Update October 2024

Customers who purchase a new 2024 or 2025 BlueCruise-equipped vehicle can upgrade to the one-time purchase if they choose at the dealership, and if eligible, the one-year plan and one-time purchase can also be rolled into the financing as part of the purchase. The new pricing plan for all Ford owners with BlueCruise-equipped vehicles is $495 annually and $49.99 monthly, effective October 1st, 2024. Existing BlueCruise customers with annual and monthly plans will see the price drop reflected on their next payment.
