Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for select 2024 Ford F-53 recreational chassis models and select 2024 Ford F-59 commercial stripped chassis models due to an issue with the gear indicator lights.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the instrument cluster may not properly display the transmission gear position indicator light. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102, “Transmission Shift Position Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect.”
Specifically, the instrument panel in affected vehicles were mistakenly swapped between models due to a software issue during production. F53 models display “PRND421” instead of “PRNDM21.” As a result, the “PRND421” display is white and gear position is not highlighted in orange when “4” is selected. Conversely, the IPC in F59 vehicles displays “PRNDM21” instead of “PRND421.” The “PRNDM21” display in these models is white and gear position is not highlighted in orange when “M” is selected.
Note that this issue does not affect the functionality of the transmission itself.
The hazards: If the transmission gear position indicator fails to illuminate, the vehicle will not comply with FMVSS 102 and the driver may be unable to identify the transmission shift position, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries that have resulted from this issue.

HOPEFULLY F O R D CAN GET THE SOFTWARE OUT TO THESE TRUCKS WITHOUT SCREWING THAT UP????
No Ford product is immune from recalls. Why do buyers buy from a company with quality control issues is beyond me.
