In recent years, we’ve seen accidents caused by distracted or impaired drivers increase sharply, and things don’t appear to be getting any better, either. Now, thanks to the popularity of dash cameras, we’re also seeing more and more of these types of accidents captured on film as well. As one might imagine, many of those incidents involve Blue Oval vehicles, and the latest of which is a Ford Edge, which had a driver behind the wheel who clearly wasn’t interested in waiting for their light to turn green.
In this video posted to Reddit, we see the Ford Edge just sitting at a red light, but once a car turns in front of the driver, they decide to move onward. However, even though the driver hit the gas hard enough that the rear end of the crossover dips down, that only sends them into the side of an approaching Subaru Outback. The Edge barely makes contact with that crossover, but it’s enough to send the Outback spiraling out of control and remove the front plate from the Ford, too. Luckily, the Subaru did manage to come to a stop before hitting anything else – including a bank that’s near it.
“The Edge driver pulled into the parking lot ahead of him like nothing happened,” the witness who captured this footage said. “Another witness blocked him in and asked WTF he was doing. Driver said: ‘what’s the problem? I stopped before that crazy guy hit me!’ Then that witness, myself, and the victim watched as the Edge drove off. I don’t think anyone was injured. Victim driver had a passenger that first responders checked out. I left while that was happening and after I showed my video to the officers – who really seemed to enjoy it. Oh, the cherry on top? When the police asked the victim if they got the other driver’s license plate, he and I both laughed. It was stuck in the Suburu’s tire well after the impact and fell off as he moved his car. So the victim driver handed the license plate to the officer who just laughed as well.”
[oc] Red lights are optional for this guy. He hit and ran. Told someone that tracked him down: “… but I stopped!”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Blue Oval driver participate in a hit and run in recent months, either, as this same type of incident has occurred with a Ford EcoSport driver in Florida, a Ford Fusion driver that happened to commit a hit and run in front of a police officer, and a Ford Ranger that actually wound up on top of another Ford Ranger.

Is it possible all the big touch screens in these newer vehicles are responsible for distracted drivers??
I have an Edge ST-line and I will say it can distract you but you have to can prevent that if you choose when to adjust something like heater, fan speed….etc. Once you get used to the features not so bad but nothing wrong with good ol button controls either.
