The Ford Authority Take

Sales of Ford EVs posted solid gains across the board in Q2 2024 year-over-year, including the F-150 Lightning and the E-Transit.

While all-electric models continue to lag their ICE-based counterparts as they slowly gain traction in the marketplace, sales of the Mustang Mach-E nearly matched those of the gas-powered Mustang. However, while the two share the same nameplate as part of the Mustang sub-brand, the former is a crossover while the latter is a two-door coupe and converible.

The growth was Hertz rental vehicles, which Hertz is now trying to dump.

Not true at all. The numbers in the article are new vehicle sales, not used vehicles.

      Another lie.

One should always think before they speak. In this case, I didn’t do that. Hertz did boost Ford’s EV sales, after which Hertz did turn around and start dumping their EV purchases…. in 2023, early 2024, which has absolutely nothing do to due with the sales figures posted in this article.

Ford (and Volkswagen) always needs an extra day or 2 to post its numbers. I don’t know why.

Sales do tend to climb when each customer is given a suitcase full of cash in the form of purchasing incentives. Take away the money and see what happens. That will be the real test of demand.
