Ford Everest And Transit Custom Recalled In Australia

This past August, The Blue Oval issued a recall for 2024 Ford Ranger models in the U.S. over an issue with the pickup’s global closing feature, in which the windows may not automatically reverse after detecting an object. The problem could pose an injury threat to occupants who may have a limb or finger in the way as a result, prompting Ford to instruct dealers to update the Driver Door Module and the Passenger Door Module software. Now, the Ford Everest and Transit Custom are being recalled in Australia over a similar problem.

According to CarExpert, a select number of Ford Everest and Transit Custom models are being recalled in Australia for essentially the same problem facing select Ford Ranger pickups “Due to a software issue, if a vehicle occupant places an obstruction such as a body part in the window space when the driver or passenger side windows are closing, the auto reverse function may not operate until significant pressure is applied,” the recall reads. “If the driver or passenger side window auto reverse function does not operate as intended, it can increase the risk of serious injury to vehicle occupants.”

This problem affects 38,423 different 2022-2024 Ford Everest and Transit Custom models sold in Australia, with a complete list of affected VINs located here. Ford will contact those owners by mail, instructing them to take their vehicles to an authorized dealer, where the software can be updated, free of charge. Alternatively, customers can contact their preferred Ford dealer or the Ford Customer Relationship Center on 13 FORD (13 3673).
