Amid summer shutdowns and the Independence Day holiday, we saw the production of every Ford and Lincoln vehicle drop in July versus June – in some cases, by a considerable margin. That was also true of the Ford Expedition, which saw its output take a rather large nose dive in July, as one might’ve expected given The Blue Oval’s history of such moves. However, as was also the case with its counterparts in the FoMoCo lineup. production of the Ford Expedition bounced right back in August – though it did wind up decreasing in the month of September.
According to Ford’s September sales report, Ford Expedition production at the Kentucky Truck plant totaled 8,459 units last month, which is 260 units or around three percent less than August’s tally of 8,719 units. Prior to that, Ford Expedition production declined from 6,876 units in June to 4,747 in July, which was a decrease of 2,129 units, or around 31 percent. August’s total Expedition production represented a month-over-month increase of 3,972 units, or nearly 84 percent, however.
Meanwhile, the redesigned 2025 Ford Expedition just made its debut earlier this month, and it features a host of notable updates. The 2025 Ford Expedition will be available in regular and extended-length Max guise, along with trim levels consisting of the Active, King Ranch, Platinum, and the brand new off-road-focused Tremor, which effectively replaces the outgoing Timberline, as Ford Authority reported back in August. The entire lineup sports fresh styling both up front and in the rear, where one will find a nifty new feature called the Ford Split Gate, which functions much like a regular tailgate on a pickup.
Inside the cabin, the biggest change present in the 2025 Ford Expedition is the addition of a new 24-inch panoramic display that doubles as the instrument cluster and is paired with an 13.2-inch center screen running the fairly new Ford Digital Experience software. Power continues to come from the twin turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine, which churns out 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque in standard guise, or 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet in the high-output version, which is standard in the Tremor and optional on Platinum models. As Ford Authority previously reported, 2025 Ford Expedition production at the Kentucky Truck plant is currently scheduled to kick off on January 6th, 2025, though as is always the case, that date is subject to change.
