In recent months, car insurance rates have skyrocketed to new record highs, which is taking many new vehicle buyers by surprise. As such, more consumers than ever are shopping around for better rates, though those are quite difficult to find at the moment, and unfortunately for all of us, they also appear likely to continue to increase through the remainder of 2024, and perhaps even longer. On the bright side, a recent study found that Ford F-150 insurance rates are cheaper than the overall U.S. average, so at least owners of that popular pickup can experience a bit of relief.
According to Insurify, the Ford F-150 is 11 percent cheaper to insure than than the U.S. average, with an annual full-coverage premium of $2,069, compared to $2,329. There are several reasons why this is the case, including the fact that the average Ford F-150 in Insurify’s database is from the 2008 model year, while the average vehicle is a bit newer at 2012, and older vehicles are generally cheaper to insure than newer ones. The Ford F-150 also received a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it starts out at 24 percent less than the average new vehicle, too.
Of course, Ford F-150 insurance rates vary greatly by state, so one’s results will vary based on where they live. In New York, F-150 drivers get the most savings on full coverage, which is 38 percent cheaper than the mean at $2,049, while South Carolina is the most expensive with an average annual premium of $3,011. New Hampshire drivers pay the least for F-150 coverage with an average of $921 annually for full coverage.
There are many other factors involved in insurance pricing as well, ranging from how much a vehicle costs to fix in the event of a claim, an area’s accident risk, speeding rates, uninsured motorist rates, no-fault vs at-fault laws, along with personal driving records, age, and credit history. Regardless, the Ford F-150 seems like a pretty good bet for those looking to save a bit of money on their car insurance in most cases.
