Recently, Ford Credit and Lincoln Automotive Financial Services began offering eligible customers impacted by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Francine a bit of financial relief in the form of delayed payment options, which both organizations have done on multiple occasions in the past following horrific storms and other natural disasters. Ford has also partnered with Team Rubicon to form and execute a disaster plan in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which was the deadliest and most destructive such storm to hit the U.S. in years. Now, the automaker’s charitable arm is chipping in, too.
Ford Philanthropy – formerly known as the Ford Fund – has launched what it calls the Hurricane Helene Donation Challenge, in which it plans to match any donations citizens make to Team Rubicon, Red Cross, and Feeding America – up to $100,000 per organization, for a total potential impact of $600,000. To participate, those interested in taking advantage of this donation match can do so by heading over here and choosing which of those three charitable organizations they wish to donate to, after which Ford Philanthropy will match it.
On top of this, Team Rubicon is accepting volunteers to help with its relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene – both Ford employees and those that aren’t affiliated with The Blue Oval. Back in June 2023, Ford announced that it was expanding its partnership with Team Rubicon by making a sizable monetary donation, as well as providing the organization with 17 vehicles to help U.S. communities that have been stricken by hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and wildfires. This time around, a number of Ford employees are helping in other ways, removing debris, chopping up wood, and cleaning up damaged homes, among other tasks.
“We have a whole team here at Ford who is mobilizing any way to help,” said Mary Culler, president of Ford Philanthropy. “What we’ve been hearing is it’s catastrophic and worse than Katrina. Obviously eastern Tennessee was impacted significantly, so we’re in contact with them and in daily contact with all of our partners. Some of them need our vehicles to power locations, others are needing funding, others need volunteers and others need people to amplify the need. We want others to recognize there are communities that really need our help.”
