Historically speaking, Ford has performed quite well in Vincentric’s Best CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) Value Awards, both in the U.S. and Canada. Aside from topping multiple vehicle segment categories each year, The Blue Oval has also earned its fair share of awards pertaining to its truck, SUV, and van lineup, too. Now, with the release of the Vincentric 2024 Best CPO Value in Canada Awards, that was once again the case, as Ford topped multiple categories yet again.
This time around, Ford won an award for being the top SUV and van brand among all makes, as those models provided owners with the best value in a number of areas. This is actually the second straight year The Blue Oval has topped the SUV and van brand category, a feat that Vincentric attributes to its model-level wins for the Ford Edge and Ford Expedition Max. The Edge managed to top the mid-size SUV/crossover segment, beating out 22 competitors by offering ownership costs that were 6.3 percent lower than expected levels, while the Expedition Max posted the lowest maintenance costs in the full-size SUV space, as well as ownership costs that were 7.5 percent below expected levels.
Vincentric derives this data from its annual cost of ownership analysis, which stems from eight different cost factors – depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. From there, Vincentric plugs its data into a statistical model to determine which models have lower than expected ownership costs when taking into account segment and price, and in this case, every vehicle was evaluated in all ten provinces of Canada, plus the Northwest Territories, using a range of insurance profiles and an annual driving distance of 20,000 kilometers (12,427 miles). Interestingly, this year’s study featured quite a few new faces, too.
“For the third year in a row, we’ve seen a trend of a majority of Best CPO Value in Canada award winners being first-time winners in their segments,” said David Wurster, Vincentric President. “This year saw fourteen first-time winners out of a total of twenty-five vehicle segments. This trend goes to show that Canadian shoppers who are in the market for a CPO vehicle have a wide variety of great-value models to choose from. For shoppers who may be overwhelmed by the decision, the Vincentric Best CPO Value in Canada awards can provide guidance and empower them to shop with confidence.”
