The last Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway walloped some of the NASCAR Ford drivers. In fact, almost every single championship-eligible Ford Mustang Dark Horse suffered crash damage at the challenging racetrack, and as a result, they’re not looking too great in the updated championship odds.
The odds on NASCAR.com have Chase Briscoe as the longest shot in the 12-driver field at 80-1 odds. Briscoe, who drives the No. 14 NASCAR Ford, was a surprise entry into the 2024 Playoffs by winning at Darlington, and he managed to survive elimination when the Round of 16 wrapped up at Bristol, but he’s had a rough few races since then. Unless he wins this weekend at the Charlotte Roval, he’ll probably be eliminated and his hopes for a title will be dashed.
Austin Cindric finds himself in a similar position. His odds of winning the 2024 title are 65-1, which aren’t the worst in the field, but they’re not the best, either. His No. 2 Mustang was the catalyst in a massive wreck at Talladega, and it’s likely that if he hadn’t crashed out, he would have won, but that’s just the nature of the beast. He could also be eliminated when the Round of 12 concludes this weekend.
Joey Logano, meanwhile, has 12-1 odds of winning his third Cup Series title this year. He’s also suffered some disappointing races in the No. 22 Mustang over the last few weeks, but this is Logano we’re talking about – he could shake things up this weekend with a win, or by simply surviving with a decent finish when the checkers drop.
Finally, defending Cup Series champion, Ryan Blaney, is still the best bet in the NASCAR Ford stable. His No. 12 Mustang also crashed out at Talladega, but he’s far ahead of the cutline and will likely survive elimination to continue his title quest in the Round of 8. As such, his odds of winning his second title in a row are 7-1, making him the safest bet among The Blue Oval’s championship hopefuls.
