NASCAR Ford Truck Wrecks Competitor On Purpose At Homestead: Video

Things can get heated in the Truck Series. The race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on October 26^th, 2024 saw tempers flare between the No. 66 NASCAR Ford F-150 of Conner Jones and the No. 42 Chevy Silverado RST of Matt Mills. Jones let his temper get the better of him when he sent Mills into the wall, and unfortunately, the wreck put Mills in the hospital.

After racing hard for a few laps, Jones appeared to intentionally tap Mills’ rear bumper on Lap 76 of 134 while racing for 19^th place. The No. 42 Chevy slammed the outside wall, sustaining heavy right side damage before bursting into flames. Mills was able to exit the race truck under his own power, but with some difficulty, and was transported to a local hospital shortly thereafter.

Jones, meanwhile, was forced to drive his No. 66 NASCAR Ford onto Pit Road during the event and remain parked for two laps for his involvement in the incident. He was credited with a 25^th-place result and was not made available to the media for comment after the race.

However, he did release an apology on social media, stating, “I have not yet had the chance to personally apologize to Matt for the incident that took place during today’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, but I intend to do so. Matt and I have encountered several on-track incidents this season, and I let my frustration get the best of me.”

At this time, further penalty to Jones or his No. 66 NASCAR Ford team has not been announced. On October 28^th, Mills was released from the hospital.

Meanwhile, the No. 9 Silverado of Grant Enfinger outran the No. 98 F-150 of Ty Majeski to win at Homestead. Majeski is currently 22 points ahead of the cutline to make the Championship 4, which will be decided after the forthcoming race at Martinsville.
