The 2025 Ford Ranger Should Add These Four Features

The all-new, fully redesigned Ford Ranger debuted in various global markets long before the mid-size pickup arrived in the U.S. for the 2024 model year – way back in 2022 for the 2023 model year in places like Thailand and Australia, in fact. Regardless, the 2025 Ford Ranger won’t likely receive too many updates, though we can expect a few minor changes such as exterior color shuffling and various small tweaks. However, there are at least four specific features that we think should be added to the 2025 Ford Ranger to make it a more compelling – and competitive – product.

For starters, the 2024 Ford Ranger isn’t available with a moonroof, which seems like a massive oversight given the popularity of that particular feature. Currently, the Ranger’s chief rival – the Toyota Tacoma – has one, which only makes its addition that much more vital. Additionally, both the Tacoma and Chevy Colorado can be had with ventilated seats, another “cool” (literally and figuratively speaking) feature that today’s truck shoppers can appreciate, particularly if they live in warmer climates.

Adding 5G capability would also be on our wish list for the 2025 Ford Ranger, which would make it a better vessel for a WiFi hotspot and over-the-air software updates, as that’s the current standard anyway. Finally, adding BlueCruise to the 2025 Ford Ranger would make it more desirable as well, particularly since it’s already available in the Ford F-150 and neither the Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon offer Super Cruise – meaning that it would have a big leg up in that regard.

For now at least, the high-performance 2025 Ford Ranger Raptor is slated to get two new exterior colors – Marsh Gray and Desert Sand. For the 2024 model year, the Ranger Raptor could be had in Azure Gray Metallic Tri-Coat, Hot Pepper Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Shadow Black, Oxford White, Iconic Silver Metallic, Shelter Green Metallic, Carbonized Gray Metallic, Velocity Blue Metallic, and Cactus Gray. It’s unclear if any of these colors will be going away to make room for the two new ones, however. Otherwise, the North American version of the Ranger is reportedly set to receive a mid-cycle refresh in 2027, which could usher in more notable changes such as the ones on our wish list, and potentially a hybrid powertrain.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. Judging from the past I believe that Ford would offer an engine block heater before they would offer cooled seats. Those execs must live North of Detroit along the cold breezy lake.
However; I would like to see a mid gate truck offered. The Maverick would be a logical choice.

  2. If you want to make the Ranger more compelling, ditch the ass way up in the air that looks stupid and makes it harder to get into. My 2003 Explorer Sport Trac had progressive leaf springs that kept it level with different loads. Why did you regress from this better setup?

  3. One other feature that the 2019-2023 Rangers had that the 2024 didn’t have is the capability to be recreationally flat towable. Any word if they’re going to include that capability/feature in 2025?

    1. Agreed. I don’t get the love for them at all. Give up all your headroom to have a potential leaking failure point in the future. But they’re on every mid option & higher car now. I can’t figure out why.

  7. For me the four features I would request is:
1 Auto four-wheel drive added to the 4×4 system-this is my biggest hold up on a getting a new Ranger.
2 Ventilated seats and rear ducts.
    3 Sunroof
    4 Blue cruise control
Will over the air updates come in over Wi-Fi\or hot spotting off my phone?

  8. They need to put the Driver and Rear Passenger Grab handles back in the Ranger like the other markets have. Tired of having to grab the steering wheel to pull myself in. The rear passenger air vents need to be put back in also.
    1. Grab handles like the rest of the world gets
    2. Rear Air vents for rear passengers also like the rest of the world gets.
    3. Blue cruise
    4. Lariat Ranger should have auto 4wd like the Raptor Ranger.

  10. I wish they would make the extended cab with a six foot bed.

  11. Instead of unnecessary gimmicks add a friggin bed that is long enough for the vehicle to be used as a truck.
