Ford has faced its fair share of quality issues in recent years, which have led to it becoming the most-recalled automotive manufacturer on multiple occasions. The Blue Oval has worked to rectify these issues in various ways, including implementing quality checks for refreshed and redesigned vehicles and ironing out any problems it discovers before shipping those vehicles to customers and dealers. However, Ford CEO Jim Farley recently pointed to one specific area that’s costing the automaker more than most – its SYNC software – which is now facing another problem.

Ford has initiated Customer Satisfaction Program 24B47 for 383,085 different 2018-2024 models listed above that are experiencing an error in the SYNC software. This problem reportedly causes instability issues and/or a failure to preserve certain settings when the vehicle is turned off and back one, and may even result in a black screen for the infotainment system. The problem doesn’t impact rearview camera functionality, though it can lead to incorrect language settings, the inability to perform software updates, or erased/unsaved radio presets.
Luckily, this issue is relatively easy to fix, though it does require owners to take their vehicles to a dealer, where a software update can be applied to impacted vehicles. This update is being offered at no charge to the customer, and those with an affected model can choose to do so either at a physical dealership, by utilizing mobile service at the location of their choosing, or by taking advantage of Ford’s pick up and delivery service.
Customers that have already had the repair performed and wound up paying for it will be reimbursed, if those repairs took place before owners received a letter notifying them of the SYNC problem. Regardless, this customer service program will remain in effect through August 31st, 2025, giving those with one of these models some time to have the repair completed, and there’s no mileage limit that applies, either.

One of the few that my 2017 Fusion doesn’t need. For a change. BUT, Ford dealer service departments are already zoos and this won’t help that matter.
Another example of Ford’s inability to do anything with software. Tesla’s get a major update every month. My 23 F-150 got 2 minor updates over the last 2 years.
Ford. Software is job last.
MAN “O” MAN…. DID YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD!!! WE HAVE A 2022 F-150 AND HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP’S (4 OF THEM), AND THEY JUS COME UP WITH STUPID EXCUSES AS TO WHY THEY EITHER DON’T KNOW OF THE UPDATES “OR” THEY SIMPLY CAN’T DO THEM??? OUR BLUE CRUISE IS “STILL” ON THE LAUNCH SOFTWARE 1.0???? NO QUALITY GOING IN, B 4 THE NAME GOES ON!!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
