In recent months, we’ve seen a number of nice Ford Focus models hit the auction block, all of them in nice condition with relatively low miles on the clock. However, that isn’t the only type of Focus we’ve seen pop up for sale, either – rather, there have also been some very interesting track cars that have joined that list as of late, too. The latest is this – a pretty wild, turbocharged 2010 Ford Focus track build that has seen its fair share of use in that type of setting, too.
This 2010 Ford Focus racer is up for grabs at Bring a Trailer after the seller acquired it back in 2015 and proceeded to convert the economical sedan for track use in SCCA club racing events. Aside from the number roundels on the doors, one would be hard-pressed to tell that’s the case from the outside, however, save for its lowered stance (courtesy of H&R Sport springs), a tow strap, 17-inch wheels, and 215/45 Yokohama Advan AO52 tires. The seller also added front and rear strut tower braces to the car for added stability.
Inside the cabin, one will find more clues including a Recaro driver’s seat, plus auxiliary gauges including a Turbosmart boost gauge and an AEM digital air/fuel ratio display that are mounted on the driver’s A-pillar. However, the factory 2.0L I-4 Duratec has been fitted with a host of upgrades including a FSWERKS Stage 2 turbocharger kit with a front-mounted intercooler, an SCT X4 performance programmer, an FSWERKS Green Filter Cool-Flo air intake, and a Stealth stainless-steel exhaust system. That beefed up powerplant sends power to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transaxle with an Exedy Stage 2 clutch kit and an MFactory limited-slip differential.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first track-focused Ford Focus we’ve come across lately, as that list also includes a 2014 Octane Academy Ford Focus ST, as well as a 2008 Spec Focus race car – giving weekend warriors some interesting choices in that regard.
