Discontinued in the U.S. years ago, the Ford Taurus lives on in places like China and the Middle East, as well as via the second-hand market. In the latter realm, we’ve seen plenty of nice, low-mile Ford Taurus models surface for sale as of late, and in many cases, command a premium at collector car auctions. This is especially true of the Ford Taurus SHO, a unique high-performance model that has endeared itself to enthusiasts and business folk for some time. Now, this very nicely preserved 1999 Ford Taurus SHO seems poised to do precisely that yet again.
This Canadian-market 1999 Ford Taurus SHO is currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer with 129k kilometers (a little over 80k miles) on the clock, and it’s been registered in British Columbia since new. Despite the fact that it has a few more miles than most Ford Taurus SHO models we’ve seen at auctions lately, this example is in fantastic condition with no flaws marring its silver paint, nor its 16-inch five-spoke aluminum wheels.
The same mostly goes for the interior, which features some wear on the gray leather seats, along with a loose console lid – though the seller is providing a replacement with the car. Otherwise, amenities include a power-adjustable driver seat, automatic climate control, power windows and locks, and a factory cassette stereo. Power comes from the aluminum Ford 3.4L V8 with Yamaha-engineered cylinder heads, which was factory-rated to deliver 235 horsepower and 230 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.
While we often see first-generation Ford Taurus SHO models, these later examples aren’t quite as common at collector car auctions – not yet, at least. Regardless, there are plenty of other nice Taurus models from this generation that have popped up for sale as of late that aren’t SHOs, including a pair of super clean wagons – a 1996 that also hailed from Canada, as well as an SE with 42k miles.

The ugly Taurus. And it hasn’t aged well, either.
I owned a 98, money pit and sad performance. Should never become a collector car
