It wasn’t too terribly long ago that trucks like the Ford F-150 were considered to be workhorses, not valuable collectibles. However, aside from earlier F-Series models from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s, we’re starting to see many from the ’80s and ’90s – or even the 2000s – sell for increasingly large sums of money. Most of those examples have lower miles and are in great condition, having escaped life on the farm or the job site only to resurface as desirable collectibles. That will certainly include this stunning 1985 Ford F-150, which just surfaced for sale recently.
This 1985 Ford F-150 is an XLT Lariat trimmed model that has just 2k miles on the clock, which is an amazingly low figure for any vehicle of this age. It’s up for auction at Bring a Trailer for the fourth time, interestingly, seeking yet another home that’s likely willing to not actually drive or use it. Back in August 2023, it sold for $31,500, but we imagine that given the current state of the market, it’ll likely garner even more money this time around, and one could argue that it’s worth it – after all, one would be hard-pressed to find a more perfect, lower-mile ’80s F-150 than this.
Along with its flawless Bright Canyon Red and Dark Canyon Red two-tone paint, this Ford F-150 also features a like-new Canyon Red interior, to boot. Everywhere one looks, this is a museum-quality piece, including under the hood, where there’s a shiny 5.8L V8 that was factory-rated to generate 210 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission.
We haven’t seen any Ford F-150 from this generation in this kind of condition recently, but there are numerous others from different years that have surfaced for sale. That includes a 1990 F-150 XLT with a mere 195 miles on the clock, a 1992 Flareside with 300 miles, a 1999 XL with 3,500 miles, and a 1999 SVT Lightning with 2k miles.
