2023-2024 Ford Transit Faces Second Rear Axle Bolt Recall

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2023-2024 Ford Transit models over the use of an incorrect bolt. This recall is being issued to address a prior recall pertaining to the same problem, though incorrect bolts were installed on some vehicles during that process rather than the correct parts.

The defect: in affected vehicles, incorrect bolts may have been used to attach the rear axle shaft, which can lead to the rear wheel locking up or separating from the axle.

The hazards: rear wheel lock-up or separation of the wheel from the axle shaft can result in loss of vehicle control or loss of drive power. In addition, the vehicle may roll in park if the parking brake is not applied. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
