2024-2025 Ford 3.5L V6 EcoBoost Models Recalled Over Oil Leak Issue

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2024-2025 Ford F-150, 2024 Ford Expedition, and 2024 Lincoln Navigator models equipped with the twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine due to an issue with oil leaks.

The defect: in affected vehicles, the engines may have a misaligned engine cup plug, which can result in a rapid oil leak.

The hazards: rapid oil leaks can result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash. In addition, an oil leak in the presence of an ignition source such as hot engine or exhaust components, can increase the risk of a fire.

Ford is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: engine cup plug

Affected vehicles: select 2024-2025 F-150 models produced between September 12th, 2024, and October 8th, 2024, 2024 Expedition SUVs built from September 24th, 2024, to October 6th, 2024, and 2024 Navigator vehicles produced from September 24th, 2024, to September 27th, 2024.

Number of vehicles affected: 2,418

The fix: dealers will inspect the engine cup plug alignment, and replace the plug if necessary, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on December 2nd, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24S70.
