A surefire way to tell the Ford F-150 Raptor R apart from the “regular” F-150 lineup is to check out its decals. The F-150 Raptor R sports a host of unique exterior graphics that are a dead giveaway to its lineage and the powerful supercharged V8 engine packed under the hood. Those graphics hold another secret, though – they can divulge what model year a Raptor R belongs to. Below, Ford Authority lines the 2023 and 2024 F-150 Raptor R up alongside each other, picking apart their unique exterior markings.
Let’s start with the 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R. It features an exterior graphics package that was designed to mimic the harsh, cracked desert earth, which is what the pickup was built to conquer, according to the automaker. This includes tortoiseshell-like designs on either side of the muscular pickup’s bed, overlaid with bold “Raptor” script with the signature Code Orange “R” integrated at the start of the name.
The 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R, meanwhile, still features bedside graphics, but with a totally new design. Instead of the earthy texture seen on the 2023 model, the 2024 F-150 Raptor R gets a set of thin horizontal blackout tape stripes that jut from just behind the rear wheel arches, slashed over the Code Orange “R” decal. Those stripes are mirrored behind the front wheels as well, creating a sense of forward motion across the pickup’s side. The “Raptor” script is still affixed just below the bedside, but it’s all black. The 2024 F-150 Raptor R also gets a hood graphic with two front fender emblems, to boot.
Not only does the 2024 F-150 Raptor R get new graphics, it draws 720 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque from its supercharged 5.2L V8 Predator, an increase of 20 horsepower over the 2023 model. It also sports a new modular front bumper with accessory attachment points built right in, along with standard forged tow hooks, a wide blackout grille, and new headlamps.
Underneath, the 2024 Raptor R also features Fox dual live-valve shocks with position-sensitive compression control and continuously variable rebound controls, making it the ideal off-road companion right off the showroom floor.
