2024 Ford F-150 Tremor Beats Key Rivals In New Comparison

There are several reasons why the Ford F-Series line of pickups continues to dominate the competition, as it has done for over four decades now. Aside from providing customers with compelling vehicles that sport cutting-edge technology and class-leading capability, we’ve also seen both halves of the F-Series – the Ford F-150 and Ford Super Duty – dominate the competition, time and time again, in various comparison tests over the years. That is once again the case with the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 Tremor, which managed to take down some key rivals in a recent comparison.

A comparison test between the Ford F-150 Tremor, Chevy Silverado Trail Boss, and Ram 1500 Rebel.

This new comparison was conducted by the folks at Edmunds, who pitted the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 Tremor against the Ram 1500 Rebel and Chevy Silverado Trail Boss, all of which are more fortified off-road-focused pickups that aren’t quite as hardcore as something like, say, the F-150 Raptor. Right off the bat, Edmunds points out that the Silverado Trail Boss is the oldest model in this otherwise recently-refreshed bunch, but it’s also quite a lot cheaper with an as-tested price of $68,550 versus $81,835 for the Ram 1500 Rebel and $81,865 for the 2024 Ford F-150 Tremor.

Regardless of that advantage, the Trail Boss didn’t quite perform well enough in this test to take the crown. In the first test – a hill climb – the Chevy made it up, but its suspension was quite jarring, while the Tremor “simply crawled up the hill with ease” and “was by far the most comfortable.” The Ram, on the other hand, also exhibited a rough ride and needed low range activated with the rear locker engaged to get up the hill. The same was true of suspension articulation, as the Tremor proved to be the most flexible in that regard, though the Rebel performed the best in the river run thanks to its copious power.

Regardless, when the dust on this off-road test settled, it was the 2024 Ford F-150 Tremor that came out on top. “The Ford won two of the three tests, giving it the overall win in this comparison,” Edmunds wrote of its selection. “And while we only focused on off-road matchups here, we’ll note that Ford continues to offer the best interior comfort and technology suite of any full-size truck.” Of course, this result is nothing new for the Ford F-150, which has earned more than its fair share of comparison test wins in recent years – a list that includes the 2023 Tremor taking down a variety of foes, while the Raptor R beat the GMC Hummer EV and the Ford F-150 Lightning defeated the Rivian R1T and Tesla Cybertruck, too.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
