The Ford EV referral program – which offers customers referred by existing owners $500 off the MSRP of a Ford Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning – originally launched on March 4th, and was slated to run through July 1st, 2024. However, in July, FoMoCo extended that offer until September 30th, 2024. Now, as the automaker works to keep the momentum of its upward all-electric vehicle sales going amid a general shift in demand, the Ford EV referral program has been extended yet again – this time, through early 2025.
According to CarsDirect, Ford recently sent dealers a bulletin informing them of this change. What’s officially called the Ford Model E Customer Referral Program Private Offer will now continue to be available through January 2nd, 2025, and it offers customers a $500 discount on 2024 or 2024 Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning models. However, there are a few exclusions worth noting, including the fact that customers located in Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming aren’t eligible for the discount.
The bulletin also notes that “eligible customers must receive a valid certification from a referring advocate and provide a unique code to a participating Model e Dealer.” However, those that have a friend with a Ford EV that wants to provide this code can now take advantage of it for a few more weeks, and for FoMoCo itself, the offer is also clearly having an impact on sales.
According to the automaker, this Ford EV referral program “helps increase traffic and sales of EVs with new customers, while collecting feedback and learnings for a potential program expansion.” The program has indeed expanded since it was first offered, as only a few states were eligible then. Given the fact that Ford has chosen to extend and expand the program yet again, it’s clearly having a positive impact, and it wouldn’t be surprise to see it stick around after the latest expiration date in early January, either.

Is this program open to all the other states that aren’t on the excluded state list? And how does a FORD EV owner get this code to provide someone that would like to lease or purchase a Ford EV?
