2025 Ford Maverick Gains Advanced Trailer Tech In February

The 2025 Ford Maverick was unveiled in late July, ushering in the compact pickup’s very first refresh since it debuted for the 2022 model year. Along with updated exterior styling, the 2025 Ford Maverick has gained a larger infotainment screen inside the cabin, as well as a handful of tweaks and the addition of the new, sporty Lobo variant. Production of the updated Maverick at the Hermosillo Assembly plant in Mexico just began on November 11th, but it appears that the popular pickup will be gaining a couple of features as part of forthcoming Job 2 production, too.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the 2025 Ford Maverick will gain Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist as part of Job 2 production this coming February, which are currently standard on the Lariat trim. This is one of many updates on the way for the 2025 Ford Maverick aside from the ones present during the refreshed model’s debut, too. As Ford Authority previously reported, the 2025 Ford Maverick is retaining its dealer-installed keyless entry keypad option – which used to be a factory piece – while the Lobo is also gaining a cheaper variant as part of Job 2 production, too.

Though it’s available with the hybrid powertrain and all-wheel drive for the first time, the 2025 Ford Maverick lineup has ditched front-wheel drive for models equipped with the the turbocharged 2.0L I-4 EcoBoost, as well as the Lariat trim entirely. Otherwise, the 2025 Ford Maverick lineup, as a whole, is significantly more expensive than the 2024 model, as Ford Authority recently reported, though it still offers good value when compared to other models in the automaker’s lineup that pair the 2.0L I-4 EcoBoost with AWD, even if it has lost 12 horsepower year-over-year.

The 2025 Ford Maverick does get more standard equipment than its predecessor, including a digital instrument gauge cluster and a larger, 13.2-inch screen running SYNC 4. The Tremor has also become its own trim level based on the Lariat, whereas before, it was offered as the optional Tremor Off-Road Package, which could be added to the XLT or Lariat.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. The front end of the 2025 does not look good. Flawed design. 2024 Model year was far superior.

  2. Not a comment, but a question. On my BLACK-on-BLACK 2025 Maverick Lariat, that is on order now. The Blue oval emblem with the white letter FORD on front grill and tailgate. Would love to have my BLUE OVAL EMBLEM, BLACK in BLACK FORD Letters on grill and tailgate. What say you?

  3. Ford should do something to get back the 12 hp they lost (or better yet a gain) from some exhaust modification. Also, they should offer the 2.3 Ecoboost as an option. My wife has a Lincoln Corsair with the 2.3 and that thing is a blast to drive expecially in Excite mode. It also gets virtually the same gas mileage as my 2.0 Maverick.
