The 2025 model year is ushering in the very first mid-cycle refresh for the Ford Maverick after its debut for the 2022 model year, and it’s one that brings forth a host of notable changes for the popular compact pickup. One of the most notable additions to the lineup is the new Ford Maverick Lobo, which is aiming to bring back the sport truck movement from the mid-1980s to the early 2000s for an entirely new audience. Problem is, the Ford Maverick Lobo isn’t exactly cheap with a starting price tag of $40,495, though it seems as if a more affordable alternative is on the way.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo will add a less expensive 402A equipment group for customers next year, as part of the pickup’s Job 2 update, which is slated to begin on February 3rd, 2025. Currently, the Lobo can only be ordered with the 702A equipment group, which plays a big role in its elevated cost, but that will seemingly change soon. It’s unclear how much the 402A-equipped Ford Maverick Lobo will retail for, but since it features everything the XLT trim has plus some added equipment, we can at least presume that it will slot somewhere in between the XLT’s price of $28,895 and the Lobo 702A’s $40,495 MSRP.
As for what the cheaper Ford Maverick Lobo will offer, that list includes the same seven-speed automatic transmission derived from the discontinued Ford Edge ST, along with a twin-clutch advanced all-wheel drive system, the Lobo drive mode, beefier brakes, paddle shifters, a specially-tuned suspension and steering, a lowered ride height, 19-inch Turbofan-style wheels, a black-painted roof, black Ford logos, fog lamps, LED project headlamps with signature accent lighting, LED taillamps, and painted door handles, grille accent bar, and rockers, plus a unique front fascia. Additionally, the Ford Maverick Lobo comes with unique accent stitching inside the cabin, as well as Ford Co-Pilot360.
The 702A adds a few more features to that mix, which include a 400W inverter, acoustic windshield, all-weather floor liners, ambient lighting, tie-down locking rails for the bed, a spray-in bedliner, the B&O sound system, one-year of Connected Navigation, dual rear USB ports, dual-zone automatic climate control, Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0, a heated steering wheel and seats, a power moonroof, power sliding rear window, illuminated visors, a wireless charging pad, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist.

This truck with the hybrid was great at the sub $20k price point, now it’s just getting ridiculous. I understand inflation but this feels more like a cash grab. Where is a mid twenty something young adult suppose to turn to in the ford family for something attainable?
This is just the Lobo. We’ll still be able to buy the lesser equipped Mavericks for a lower price.
Is there an option to delete that ugly grill?
Shockandawe
“Is there an option to delete that ugly grill” Well spoken. I’ll bet the owners of the 2025 do just that, remove the ugly cover. I’m glad got my 2022 before Ford hired kids who don’t know what they’re doing and they should fire those who approved it. This us nit a selling point, it’s an experiment because they already know they have a winning design
I watched a blind man walking around a Maverick with a walking cane, when he got to the eyelids he started beating the hell out of them shouting no, no!
Agree with the article, but I agree more with my Mav brothers here. We Maverick owners agree that this poor redesign makes it the Ugliest truck of the year!!! The poor truck is so ashamed of the insect face they put on that it covers its eye. They should fire whoever came up with this design and who approved it.
Ford is loosing its leadership with desperate desin move. It looks foreign, not like the initial premise of the F150 s little brother. I’m glad i got my ’22 Mav before Ford caved in to the new gen visionless designers.
