As it has done with each passing model year since the EV crossover launched in 2021, The Blue Oval has made several tweaks to the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E that it revealed just a couple of weeks ago. While those changes are nothing that would constitute a full-blown mid-cycle refresh or redesign, there are some that may pique the interest of customers enough that they’ll be eyeing the purchase of a 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Now, we have a better idea of when they might be able to do that, as we now know when production of that model is slated to start.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Job #1 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E production at the Cuautitlan Assembly plant in Mexico is currently scheduled to begin on January 6th, 2025, though as always, that date is subject to change. As Ford Authority previously reported, the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E is set to lose a couple of features previously included for the 2024 model year – the windshield wiper de-icer and MyKey feature – but otherwise, the EV crossover will be gaining a handful of welcome updates, too.
For starters, the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E is adding a new standard heat pump, which helps optimize energy consumption, particularly in colder weather conditions, and results in less range loss in that regard. Additionally, the Premium trim is gaining the new Sport Appearance Package, which adds select Mach-E GT styling cues such as its front fascia, grille shield, and red-painted Brembo front brake calipers, plus black-painted door cladding and wheel lips, and a set of 19-inch monochromatic high-gloss black-painted wheels. Inside the cabin, this optional package adds red accent stitching and sport pedals, while ventilated seats are now standard on all Premium models.
All 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E crossovers are ditching the old center-mounted dial shifter as well, replacing it with a column shifter that frees up some console space. As Ford Authority previously reported, the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E will be the first to get the new BlueCruise 1.5 update, which is adding an Automatic Lane Change feature, though it hasn’t yet revealed a timeline for that rollout.
As for exterior color updates, the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E is getting three new options – Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Velocity Blue Metallic, and Desert Sand – along with a Dark Carbonized Gray wheel option for the Mach-E Rally. The updated EV crossover is slated to go on sale in early 2025, with a base price of $36,495, which is notably cheaper than the current starting MSRP of $39,995 for the entry-level Select trim.
