Just this past September, Ford dealers in Mexico ranked above the mass market segment average in J.D. Power’s Customer Service Index (CSI) Study, which aims to analyze the service experience and customer satisfaction with authorized dealers. This was a big turnaround from just a year prior, when Ford dealers in Mexico came in under the industry average, a reversal that can at least partially be attributed to the brand new Ford Signature dealer concept – which focuses on creating more inviting spaces. Now, Ford Mexico is taking steps to improve its service experience, too.
Ford Mexico is partnering with Anáhuac University to offer a new technical certification program, which aims to improve the quality of the service departments across that country. As is the case in the U.S. and other markets, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find and retain trained automotive technicians in Mexico, so this new Ford-Anáhuac technical certification program will offer those interested in pursuing such a career a clearer path to get there via a certification endorsed by the Ministry of Labor.
Those interested in taking advantage of this program can apply with Anáhuac University, which will then select a handful of students and give them a path to formalize their studies and provide them with the accreditations needed to begin working as certified techs. Those that participate in the program will gain access to information pertaining to a variety of areas including engine, transmission, and suspension system repair, as well as specialized electrification training. Once they finish this training, techs will take an exam to test their knowledge and achieve certification.

For many, it represents a professional achievement, an achievement that validates their experience and prepares them for tomorrow’s challenges,” said Oscar Navarro, Technical Support Manager of Ford Mexico.
