Last year, both the Ford Expedition and Expedition Max took home Vincentric Best CPO (certified pre-owned) Value Awards by topping the Large SUV category in the U.S. and Canada, respectively. Given the fact that Ford routinely has several models that make the cut on this annual study, those awards came as no huge surprise, and the automaker is continuing its success in a big way now that the 2025 Vincentric Best CPO Value in America Awards have been revealed. Once again, the Ford Expedition is among The Blue Oval’s models to receive one of those awards, too.
For the third consecutive year and fifth time in the 12 years that Vincentric has been conducting this particular study, the Ford Expedition topped the Large SUV segment – beating seven competitors by posting the lowest operating, fuel, and maintenance costs in its class, with total ownership costs that came in at seven percent below expected levels. The Expedition was one of six models to receive an individual award – including the Ford Maverick Hybrid – along with two overall brand awards for The Blue Oval itself.
To come up with this data, Vincentric measures the cost of ownership of a variety of used models via eight different cost factors – depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. Using a statistical model, winners were identified by measuring which vehicles had lower than expected ownership costs given their market segment and price. Each vehicle was evaluated in all 50 states plus Washington D.C. using a range of annual mileage intervals and insurance profiles with the assumption that each would be driven 15,000 miles annually over five years.
“Vehicle cost of ownership is important to our customers,” said Jim Baumbick, vice president, Ford Product Development Operations and Quality. “Earning Vincentric’s CPO Value Awards for our trucks, vans, and SUVs is a testament to our engineers and their dedication to designing durable, cost-effective vehicles that help minimize operating costs to help hold their value over time.”
