Ford F-150 Lightning Wins 2025 Best CPO Value Award

Last year, the Ford F-150 Lightning earned some notable recognition from Vincentric, as the EV pickup ranked as one of that organization’s best certified pre-owned values in more than one country. In fact, the Ford F-150 Lightning topped the full-size half-ton pickup segment in the 2024 Vincentric Best CPO Value in America Awards, as well as last year’s Canadian version of those same honors – largely due to the fact that it had the lowest total ownership costs in its class. Now, the Ford F-150 Lightning has once again taken home some hardware in the 2025 Vincentric Best CPO Value in America Awards, too.

This year, the Ford F-150 Lightning ranked as the top choice in the full-size half-ton pickup segment of Vincentric’s annual U.S. CPO awards, this time, beating out six other competitors. The F-150 Lightning achieved that by presenting customers with the lowest fuel, maintenance, and operating costs in its class, along with total ownership costs that came in 12.3 percent below expected levels. This means that the F-150, in general, has now topped the full-size half-ton pickup segment of this study for nine of its 12 years in existence. The F-150 Lightning was also one of six FoMoCo models to receive an individual award – including the Ford Maverick Hybrid and the Ford Expedition – along with two overall brand awards for The Blue Oval itself.

To come up with this data, Vincentric measures the cost of ownership of a variety of used models via eight different cost factors – depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. Using a statistical model, winners were identified by measuring which vehicles had lower than expected ownership costs given their market segment and price. Each vehicle was evaluated in all 50 states plus Washington D.C. using a range of annual mileage intervals and insurance profiles with the assumption that each would be driven 15,000 miles annually over five years.

“Vehicle cost of ownership is important to our customers,” said Jim Baumbick, vice president, Ford Product Development Operations and Quality. “Earning Vincentric’s CPO Value Awards for our trucks, vans, and SUVs is a testament to our engineers and their dedication to designing durable, cost-effective vehicles that help minimize operating costs to help hold their value over time.”

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
