Ford Mondeo, Mondeo Sport Hybrid Details Revealed

The Ford Mondeo may no longer be sold in places like Europe, but the sedan is alive and well in Chinaalong with the Mondeo Sport crossover. In fact, both of those models are gaining some updates for the new model year, including the addition of new hybrid powertrains for the new year. However, while we knew that the Ford Mondeo and Mondeo Sport were gaining hybrid powertrains, the automaker hadn’t yet released any details on those updates offerings – until now, that is.

Both the new hybrid Ford Mondeo and Mondeo Sport were on display at this year’s Guangzhou Auto Show, where FoMoCo was touting the fact that unlike a PHEV or EV, customers don’t have to plug in those vehicles to experience the benefits of electrification. The Ford Mondeo hybrid utilizes the turbocharged 1.5L EcoBoost gas engine paired with an electric motor to deliver fuel consumption of three liters (0.79 gallons) per 100 kilometers (62 miles), along with a max driving range of 1,051 kilometers (653 miles).

As for the all-new Ford Mondeo Sport hybrid, it features a bit more space and a higher ride height as a five-door crossover “coupe,” with a ground clearance of 168mm when fully loaded. The Mondeo Sport touts a wheelbase of 2,945mm, and more cargo space – up to 1,550 liters. The Ford Mondeo Sport hybrid generates a combined total of 308 horsepower, with fuel consumption as low as 4.1 liters per 100 kilometers, with a total range of up to 915 kilometers (569 miles), which Ford claims is best in class.

Ford Mondeo

The Chinese Ford Mondeo originally debuted in China in January 2022 as an all-new mid-size sedan that’s built by Changan Ford – a 50:50 joint venture between Ford and Changan Auto. As for the Mondeo Sport, it originally launched as the Evos in China, but the automaker wound up ditching that name earlier this year, though it didn’t undergo too many other changes as part of that rebrand.

Ford needs a sedan in the the us market bring the Fusion and MKZ back. On the Licncoln give it sucide doors and it would sell like hotcakes. Make it look like a modern 65 Continental which is the hottest old luxury car that everone wants today.
