Ford Mustang GT4 Cleans House At Bathurst 2024

The Blue Oval outclassed the field in the final race of the 2024 Australia GT4 season at Mount Panorama on November 10th, 2024. Nineteen cars hit Bathurst for two races last weekend, and the Ford Mustang GT4 racers put the competition in its place, sweeping a pole position, a victory, and a class victory to end a successful maiden GT4 season.

George Miedecke and Rylan Gray dominated Sunday’s race at Bathurst, leading flag-to-flag on their way to the win in the No. 35 Ford Mustang GT4. Their victory was a milestone win for The Blue Oval, marking the 51st international win for the all-new Dark Horse-based Mustang GT4. Miedecke and Gray also rounded out the 2024 season as runner-up in points in their class.

“It was a good weekend and a great race on Sunday. Scoring the overall victory means we’ve taken about 10 per cent of the global wins for the Mustang this year,” said Miedecke. “It also means we book-end the year with wins, first at Phillip Island and now at Bathurst.”

He added, “Teaming with Rylan has been great for me this year and I think I’ve been good for him. We’re already looking forward to him showing what he can do in GT4 next year.”

Gray shared his teammate’s sentiments, praising the Ford Mustang GT4 for its performance throughout 2024.

“The Mustang is really fast and suits the track. The car was quick when we rolled it out of the truck, and we hardly had to touch it,” Gray said. “It’s been a big learning year and I think we’ve made good progress. Now I’m looking forward to having a big crack in ’25 to get the GT4 championship.”

Saturday’s race also fell in The Blue Oval’s favor when Jason Gomersall and Aaron Seton guided their Ford Mustang GT4 to victory on The Mountain. It was the duo’s second outing with the iconic pony car, although it was anything but a cakewalk, as they were hit with a penalty and a handicap in Sunday’s race.

“Saturday was a great day for us, especially in only our second meeting with the Mustang. Carrying extra weight and a 15-second success penalty made things much tougher on Sunday,” Gomersall said. “I didn’t qualify well enough for the Sunday race and that made it a bit of a challenge. Still, we’ve had some success, and it was only our second weekend with the car. Next year we’re adding a second Mustang to the team and that will fast-track our learnings. It’s going to be great.”
