For some time, Ford was focused on developing unique models for the Chinese market that were created specifically with those customers in mind. However, this strategy proved quite costly and ineffective, and recently prompted FoMoCo to shift gears a little over a year ago. It was then that Ford announced that it would be focusing more on off-road pickups and SUVs in China, all while launching various post-purchase experiences to accompany those vehicles, similar to the Bronco Off-Roadeo in the U.S. Now, Ford China has officially opened its own off-road park in that country, too.
The new Ford Off-Road Park is located in Jining, Shandong, and officially opened up back on November 8th, making it the automaker’s seventh such location around the world, as well as the only one outside of the United States. This Ford Off-Road Pack is also the first outdoor lifestyle theme park created by an automotive brand in China, as well as the country’s first AORX certified track that’s the largest in all of Asia. There, visitors can experience the Ford Bronco, Ford Ranger, and Ford F-150 Raptor in a unique setting, along with a variety of outdoor recreational activities. The new park joins the Ford F-150 Raptor Off-Road Academy, which debuted in Southwest China nearly two years ago.
“For fans of the outdoor lifestyle, Ford is a brand that you simply cannot keep away from,” said Sam Wu, the President and CEO of Ford China. “Ford’s continuous expansion of hybrid models make its iconic lineup even more comprehensive and ideal for all-scenario travel. On top of that, the recent unveiling of the first Ford Off-Road Park in China fully brings our outdoor adventure ecosystem to life, championing every outdoor enthusiast to ‘Unleash Fun, Wild at Heart.'”
In addition to the F-150 Raptor, the Ford Ranger and Ford Bronco just joined the automaker’s Chinese lineup over the past couple of years as the automaker works to complete a major product shift in the hyper-competitor automotive market there. Those models aren’t be terribly different from their U.S. counterparts, but they are built locally by Jiangling Ford, a joint venture between FoMoCo and Jiangling Motors, and are sold in special stores called Ford Beyond.
