The debut of the 2024 Ford Mustang was obviously a big deal given the fact that it isn’t often we’re treated to a brand new version of the iconic pony car, but The Blue Oval wasn’t just content to bless us with something many automakers no longer bother to sell. Rather, the S650 generation Mustang has also brought with it a full-blown assault on the world of motorsports across the globe, going far beyond what most expected. Those efforts have paid off in a big way as well, as Ford Performance has already racked up quite a few motorsports wins in the Mustang this year so far.
The Ford Mustang has now achieved 50 race victories in 2024 across a diverse array of series, in fact, spanning three continents and four different countries. Among those achievements, the most notable lie in NASCAR – where Joey Logano just secured his third Cup Series championship, while fellow driver Riley Herbst secured a big win in the Xfinity Series and Ty Majeski brought home the 2024 championship in the Truck Series.
The Ford Mustang has also taken home its fair share of race wins in series such as Formula Drift, NHRA drag racing, Australian Supercars, and GT4. This year alone, the pony car has covered more than 7,800 miles on a race track, clinching additional titles in GT4 in both Canada and the U.S., plus a Formula Drift championship, putting a massive exclamation point on Ford Performance’s global domination of motorsports this year. Comment
I think it’s safe to say that the NHRA Mustang Funny Car doesn’t contain a single Ford component/part.
