Ford Performance Overhauls IMSA Roster For 2025 Season

The Blue Oval just wrapped up its maiden IMSA season with the Ford Mustang GT3 race car, which was introduced for the 2024 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship campaign. It’s never too soon to start looking at next season, and in preparation for a successful 2025 campaign, Ford Performance has announced its driver lineup for next season.

Ford Multimatic Motorsports will field a pair of Mustang GT3 racers next year. The first, the No. 64 Mustang GT3, will be guided by Mike Rockenfeller and Sebastian Priaulx. They will receive support from Ben Barker for select endurance races next year.

The No. 65 Ford Mustang GT3, will be split between Christopher Mies and Frédéric Vervisch. The duo has already garnered valuable experience during the endurance races at Daytona, Sebring, and Petit Le Mans, and are looking to ride their momentum to the 2025 season. Dennis Olson, meanwhile, will jump behind the wheel of the No. 65 Ford Performance machine in the longer endurance events.

The aforementioned drivers will replace the Ford Performance talent that guided the Mustang GT3 through its maiden IMSA season. Joey Hand, Dirk Müller, and Harry Tincknell were the point men for The Blue Oval throughout the 2024 campaign in the GTD Pro division. While it wasn’t easy taming the new Ford Mustang GT3, by the end of the season, they seemed to have a handle on the new racer.

“I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Joey, Dirk, and Harry for their invaluable contribution to the Mustang GT3’s journey,” said Ford Performance head, Mark Rushbrook. “Their unrivalled expertise has been essential to the development of the Mustang GT3 and the hours they put in, pounding around race tracks across the US laid the groundwork for this race. Joey and Dirk will always be special to Ford as they won Le Mans for us in 2016, and while they may not be in our IMSA squad this season, you certainly haven’t seen the last of them.”

The first round in the 2025 IMSA season is the 24 Hours of Daytona, scheduled for January 25th, 2025.
