Aside from providing home charging solutions for retail EV customers, Ford Pro – The Blue Oval’s dedicated commercial entity – has also long sought to make the act of charging easier for its fleet customers, too. In fact, this past May, Ford Pro launched a variety of home charging solutions for commercial customers that don’t operate from a central depot or employ full-time fleet managers. Now, Ford Pro has also debuted a range of new home charing solutions for customers based in the United Kingdom, too.
The new Ford Pro smart chargers are now available for customers in the UK, and offer speeds of either 7.4 kW or 22 kW. Both come with a certified energy meter that provides more accurate energy data for driver reimbursement, along with five-year hardware and three-year installation warranties. Customers also get full control and visibility over their fleet charging – no matter if those units are located at an employee’s home or on the job site – via a single platform, and can minimize costs by utilizing off-peak charging as well. Ford Pro plans to continue rolling out its new home charging solution to additional markets in 2025 following a successful pilot run conducted by the Royal Automobile Club.
“Our Ford Pro Charging Software and automated central billing solution enables the RAC to easily reimburse its drivers for charging at home,” said Ford Pro Charging lead Alan McCleave. “This guarantees drivers are not left out of pocket, ensuring vehicles are charged every night with minimal admin burden for the fleet manager. This is just one example of our solution driving productivity for our customers. We are excited to continue to support the RAC in their electrification journey. Our home charging solution helps business customers make a smooth transition to a plug in/electric fleet while maintaining uptime and productivity.”
In addition to providing a variety of EV charging solutions for businesses, Ford also recently launched what it calls “Power Promise,” which offers retail customers a free home charger when they take delivery of their vehicle, after which they can also receive a free standard installation of that charger as well. Additionally, the automaker has partnered with a variety of utility companies across the U.S. to provide discounts to customers who charge during off-peak hours and provide energy back to the grid when needed, too.
