The Ford Puma has been a favorite among new vehicle shoppers in the UK and Europe since the day it launched in those parts of the world, and as such, the crossover also continues to rank on the list of the best-selling models there, too. This is particularly true in the UK, where the Ford Puma has been either the best-selling or second best-selling new vehicle in that country month after month for quite some time now. That trend continued in October as well, with the Puma ranking behind only one other vehicle in terms of sales in the United Kingdom.
This news comes to us from The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders Limited (SMMT), showing that the Ford Puma recorded 3,521 sales in the UK last month, which landed it in second place behind the Kia Sportage and its 4,533 sales. Regardless, the Ford Puma managed to hold onto its lead through the first ten months of the year, albeit by a very small margin of just 350 units. In July, the Puma ranked third on these same sales charts but closed out the first half of the year in first place, followed by a first-place ranking in August and second-place in September. As for the overall UK new vehicle market, sales fell by six percent year-over-year to 144,288 units, but EV sales actually rose by 24.5 percent, finishing the month at 29,802 units.
“Massive manufacturer investment in model choice and market support is helping make the UK the second largest EV market in Europe,” said Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive. “That transition, however, must not perversely slow down the reduction of carbon emissions from road transport. Fleet renewal across the market remains the quickest way to decarbonise, so diminishing overall uptake is not good news for the economy, for investment or for the environment. EVs already work for many people and businesses, but to shift the entire market at the pace demanded requires significant intervention on incentives, infrastructure and regulation.”
