Production of the latest-generation Ford Ranger began at the Pacheco Assembly plant back in June 2023 following an $80 million dollar investment to retool that particular facility. As most Blue Oval fans are already aware, the Ford Ranger isn’t just a popular target among customers in the U.S. looking for a mid-size pickup, but rather, it’s more of a global phenomenon, as well as a top seller in that same South American country. In fact, we’ve seen FoMoCo boost Ford Ranger production at the Pacheco plant to meet high demand in the past, and now, that’s once again the case.
Ford has officially announced that it will boost production of the award-winning Ranger at the Pacheco plant to 70,000 units in 2025, which is 15 percent more than 2024 and 28 percent higher than 2023’s output. The automaker will add 160 direct collaborators at the facility to help support this increase, which stems from ever-growing demand from customers in both Argentina and the entirety of South America.
In addition to producing the Ford Ranger itself, the Pacheco plant also builds the turbocharged 3.0L V6 Power Stroke diesel engine available in that particular pickup, along with the 2.0L single- and bi-turbo diesel powerplants, a process that began this past summer as part of the automaker’s ongoing investment in that facility. The Ranger originally entered production at the Pacheco plant back in 1996 in two-wheel drive, regular cab configuration. Since then, production has expanded greatly at that facility, and more than 60 percent of the Ford Ranger models built at Pacheco go to export markets, which include Brazil, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Uruguay.
“The New Generation of Ranger has had an exceptional reception from the demanding users of pickups in the region, which is validated in the growth of its sales – in its first full year, it has doubled its market share in South America and in October the New Ranger had the best month of sales in its history in Brazil: more than 3,800 units sold and consolidating itself among the two best-selling pickups in the segment,” said Martin Galdeano, president of Ford Argentina and South America. “In Argentina, the New Ranger accumulates a market share that is the largest of the last decade and in the other markets, the story is similar. It is a pride that the great bet we have made to offer a completely new product is having this level of acceptance.”
