As Ford Authority reported back in June, Ford filed to trademark “Ranger Super Duty” with the Intellectual Property Office Of The Philippines (IPOPHL) a while ago, which seemed a bit strange at the time. Regardless, it seemed likely that perhaps the automaker was considering a heavier-duty version of its mid-size pickup for global markets where the Super Duty isn’t sold, but the Ranger is. Now, The Blue Oval has officially teased the new Ford Ranger Super Duty, which is slated to launch in select global markets in 2026.
The Ford Ranger Super Duty “will deliver next-level, work-ready capability to serve the toughest customers when it arrives in 2026,” according to FoMoCo, which adds that the new pickup was designed with direct input from its fleet customers and created by the IMG Product Development team in Australia. The Ford Ranger Super Duty is designed to “do things that no other mid-size truck can do,” it notes, including delivering increased levels of gross vehicle mass (GVM), gross combined mass (GCM), and supreme towing and off-road capability, to boot.
The Ford Ranger Super Duty will be built in Thailand and exported to other as-of-now unspecified markets, and is slated to offer up 4,500 kilograms (9,920 pounds) of max towing capacity, 4,500 (9,920 pounds) of GVM, and 8,000 kilograms (17,636 pounds) of GCM. When it arrives, the new Ranger Super Duty will join a variety of other recently-revealed models, including the Tremor and the PHEV, all while the mid-size pickup is getting some critical updates for the 2025 model year.

This work-ready vehicle will give owners the flexibility they need to get the big jobs done, with the confidence of a factory-backed warranty,” said Sondra Sutton Phung, General Manager, Global Truck, Ford Motor Company.

Destined for total failure, and the internet agrees. Ranger is priced too close to the F-150 and as a result sells in far lower numbers. This will only make it worse and is laughably unnecessary.
This is not being sold in markets that sell the F-150. 🤦♂️

This is for markets that don’t have access to the F-150, Like Australia. To get this kind of capability they are importing US 150s and dash and steering swapping them and selling them for like $150,000 for a lariat. And people are buying them because its all they can get. Most of them don’t even want or need something that big they just want the capacity. A similarly equipped Ranger goes for about $80,000 in Australia. So if you can make a F-150 capable truck on a smaller less expensive platform and sell it for 10-15% more than a regular duty ranger, it will sell in Australia.
