Back in June, we learned that the FordPass iOS 18 update was slated to bring forth a bevy of updates for users with Apple iPhones, including the ability to customize the control control center, making it easier to access frequently used features. At that time, Ford CEO Jim Farley stated that we would be seeing this functionality arrive “this fall,” but since then, we’ve been eagerly awaiting the update to debut. Now, the long-awaited FordPass iOS updates have arrived, via version 5.8.0 that just dropped yesterday.

With this new update, FordPass users can add lock and unlock commands for their vehicles directly in the control center, making them easier and quicker to access than having to open the FordPass app itself. Additionally, home screen widgets can be added that allow owners to view critical vehicle information at a glance, and the trailer check light has returned as well. For those that own a Ford hybrid or all-electric model, preferred charge times can now be updated from the energy tab, which gives them a bit of added convenience as well.

We saw this vehicle health update in action just last month, right alongside the debut of a bevy of new Apple products, as this feature has been relocated under Service. This puts information such as tire pressure, oil life, active alerts, diesel exhaust fluid levels, and odometer readings on one screen In addition to this capability, iOS 18 enables users to do things like arrange apps and widgets in any open space on the home screen, including placing them right above the dock for easy access or to frame a wallpaper. App icons and widgets can utilize a dark or tinted effect, and users can make them appear larger as well.

  • I'm very disappointed in the FordPass app. When I got my 2020 Mustang GT and 2021 F-150 PowerBoost, the app was much more functional and had more utilities. For over the past year, Ford has dumbed it down to practically nothing. I also joined their beta test group in hopes of seeing what/how they are working on updates and improvements. Alas, it's been a waste of time. I've commented multiple times to them that they need to reinstate what was once there and make the overall interface more efficient. Too many clicks are needed to find various info.
Zone lighting control is still missing, ProPower control (onboard generator) is still missing, Owners manuals is gone too, and Trailer lighting check was JUST reinstated with the latest update, and Fuel level came back a few updates prior to that.
It is ludicrous that simple yet desirable functions were once featured and have since been pulled.
Teenage gamers can create apps more functional than this one! Once screen should tell me all my stats. But I have to jump between "Vehicle" & "Service" to see fuel level, oil life, odometer, and tire pressures.
    COME ON FORD.
