Along with launching a variety of free EV charger incentives in specific states for commercial customers, Ford also recently debuted what it calls “Power Promise,” which offers retail customers that purchase or lease a Ford Mustang Mach-E, Ford F-150 Lightning, or Ford E-Transit a free home charger when they take delivery of those vehicles, after which they can also receive a free standard installation of that charger as well. Now, Ford Pro is extending a similar deal for government fleet customers, too.
According to a dealer bulletin recently seen by CarsDirect, Ford Pro is renewing an existing offer that provides state and local government customers with a free EV charger when they purchase an E-Transit, Mustang Mach-E, or F-150 Lightning. The bulletin notes that this provides those customers with a value of up to $1,599, but doesn’t mention installation, though taxes and delivery are included. Ford Pro’s website lists a trio of charging options – Series 1 80A ($1,999), Series 2 80A ($2,499), and Series 2 48A ($1,599) units – so it stands to reason that this deal pertains to the Series 2 48A charger, given its retail price.
Regardless, this deal is quite similar to the ones we’ve seen Ford offer its retail and commercial customers over the past few months, and is designed to take the guesswork out of home or worksite charing, all while providing those customers with an added financial benefit as well. Ford is clearing aiming to entice more state and local governments to transition their fleets to EVs, which has become a common trend as of late, both as a way to cut emissions as well as slash operating costs.
This deal is also similar to one that Ford offered specifically in California recently, which provides what the automaker calls its Smart Charging Bundle to fleet customers in that state who are subscribed to Ford Pro Charging software with a complimentary Ford Pro Level 2 48-amp charger or a Level 2 80-amp charger for depot and workplace charging.
