Shortly after the supercharged, V8-powered Ford F-150 Raptor R debuted for the 2023 model year, Hennessey Performance revealed the VelociRaptor 1000, which takes that pickup a bit further in various ways. Along with various appearance upgrades, the Hennessey VelociRaptor 1000 takes the the stock supercharged Ford 5.2L V8 and its ratings of 700 horsepower and 640 pound-feet all the way up to 1,013 raging ponies and 850 pound-feet. Aside from making it rather quick, as one might imagine, these upgrades also make the Hennessey VelociRaptor 1000 sound pretty amazing, too.
That glorious sound is on clear display in this recent video that gives us a driver’s point of view in the Hennessey VelociRaptor 1000, as the whine from its supercharger balances nicely with the V8’s roar through the tailpipes. This modified pickup makes those noises thanks to a larger, 3.8L supercharger, which replaces the stock 2.65L Eaton TVS R2650 unit in the Raptor R. From there, Hennessey adds bigger fuel injectors, fuel lines, a high-flow intake, and a beefier supercharger belt before putting the whole thing on the dyno to tune it and extract as much extra power as possible.
According to the tuner, these upgrades also result in a blazing 0-60 time of just 3.1 seconds, as well as an 11.4-second quarter-mile at 122 mph. In terms of visual upgrades, the Hennessey VelociRaptoR 1000 gets unique exterior graphics, VelociRaptor bumpers, badging, a front LED light bar, and 20-inch wheels wrapped with 37-inch tires. Underneath, the pickup also receives a three-inch lift kit with a level, along with power folding side steps to aid ingress and egress. Customers have a bevy of options to choose from on top of all that, such a six-piston Brembo brakes and a handful of other items. Production is limited to just 500 units, however.
Regardless, that run of 500 units has yet to sell out, as there are still some Hennessey VelociRaptor 1000 pickups up for grabs, it seems. Given the fact that regular Raptor R costs over $100k to procure in the first place – coupled with what figures to be a sizable sum for these upgrades – they aren’t cheap, but then again, can one really put a price tag on something that sounds this good and moves this well?
