Lincoln Continental Convertible Would Make A Great Halo Car

The Lincoln Continental is one of the older and more prestigious nameplates in the automotive industry, having lived across ten generations and 55 years of production – though not continuous, at least. Rather, the Continental has disappeared from time to time, and most recently, the luxurious range-topping sedan was discontinued following the conclusion of the 2020 model year as the brand pivoted to a crossover/SUV-only lineup. However, that hasn’t stopped folks from wishing that the Lincoln Continental would return, nor artists from imagining what the revived model might look like if it did.

In these new renderings from Cole Attisha – which were posted in the Facebook group AI Automotive Art – we see a pretty good example of what a Lincoln Continental convertible might look like, as its design theme fits nicely within the current lineup. In fact, it’s immediately evident that we’re looking at a drop top version of the Continental, which is notable because Lincoln didn’t offer a convertible version of the last-gen model. Even the interior is spot on, touting a more modern look with dual screens atop the dash.

While it would be easy to dismiss the idea of a future halo-type Lincoln Continental convertible as something that will never happen, that’s not exactly the case. Rather, as Ford Authority reported back in May 2022, a sedan revival for the luxury brand isn’t entirely out of the cards, based on comments from John Jraiche, Global Lincoln Product Director. Adding fuel to that proverbial fire is another report that surfaced earlier this year claiming that Lincoln will launch two new models in the near future as well, though it’s unclear what those will be.

As we wait (and hope) for the Continental to perhaps return one day, we’re left to simply look at renders of what could have been, or what could be. In fact, Ford Authority has rendered a host of theoretical Lincoln models in recent years, including a Continental coupe, a Lincoln Aviator coupe, and an off-road-focused version of the Lincoln Navigator.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

  1. This car is a true Lincoln. But Farley inists in making Lincoln nothing but a vulgar joke. This is a car I would buy. A SUV or a crossover, never. No matter what.

  2. Mr. Farley is too busy making EVs that nobody wants. My mother’s second husband built those classic T-Birds and Continentals from the early 1960s. I love this convertible concept.

    1. California and I believe 8 other state have mandated EV-only sales starting in 2035, and many other states are seriously looking at imposing the same restrictions. So, it’s either offer electric vehicles while continuing with R&D, or not sell any new vehicles after 2035. It’s a business decision.

  3. This looks great! It really is a shame that Lincoln doesn’t any longer, have such a halo car.

  4. It’s nice, but an MKZ sedan would sell so many more and has waiting customers.

  5. Any chance that this great vehicle will ever be built will require replacing every Ford executive who doesn’t care for sedans/convertibles starting with Failure Farley.
