Josh Berry will join the Cup Series’ longest-running team in 2025, taking control of the historic No. 21 NASCAR Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Wood Brothers Racing (WBR) next year. The team has now announced that Miles Stanley, a veteran race engineer who currently serves on Team Penske, will sit atop the pit box as crew chief for Berry.
Stanley is currently the performance engineer for Team Penske, the NASCAR Ford team that fields Ryan Blaney, joey Logano, and Austin Cindric. He was the race engineer on the No. 22 Mustang team from 2013 through 2019, supporting Logano’s championship-winning efforts in 2018. During that time, he accrued 21 victories and helped Logano make the Championship 4 three times.
In 2020, Stanley shifted to Blaney’s No. 12 Mustang, working with the popular driver to earn several wins and make the Playoffs. He also has prior experience as crew chief in the Cup Series, serving on the part-time No. 33 Ford team for Cindric in 2021.
Stanley attended the University of Akon and graduated in 2007 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Before landing at a NASCAR team, he worked for Polestar Racing Group in the Champ Car Atlantic Series, where he worked as both an engineer and a crew chief. In 2009, he left open wheel racing behind and threw himself into stock car racing, serving as crew chief for Robby Gordon until 2011 before joining BK Racing in 2012.
“The Wood Brothers name is synonymous with the sport of NASCAR, and to be able to serve as the crew chief for the iconic No. 21 is an incredible opportunity,” Stanley said in a team release. “I’m looking forward to working with Josh Berry, whose skills and enthusiasm are sure to bring great value to the team. It’s an exciting time for the Wood Brothers with the addition of Josh Berry and the celebration of their 75th anniversary in NASCAR in 2025. We’ll be ready to hit the ground running.”
“Miles has built an impressive resume filled with wins and championships, and he has a deep, technical understanding of the sport. His commitment and impressive track record make him a perfect fit for the No. 21 team as we enter an exciting new chapter,” said Jon Wood, president of Wood Brothers Racing. “Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to work with some of the most talented crew chiefs in NASCAR, and I look forward to seeing what Miles and Josh accomplish on the track next year.”
