NASCAR Ford Drivers Stagnant In Post Homestead Power Ranking

The NASCAR Ford drivers left Homestead on October 27th, 2024, with a lot to be desired. With just one race before the final championship-deciding race in Phoenix, Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano pretty much stayed where they were at in the Power Rankings heading into Martinsville.

The latest Power Rankings from NASCAR.com show where each of the eight championship-eligible drivers stack up. Among them, Blaney holds down seventh, ahead of Chase Elliott and behind Kyle Larson. The fact that the No. 12 NASCAR Ford Mustang Dark Horse barely missed out on the win at Homestead hurt him a bit, as he’s now 38 points below the cutline and in danger of missing the Championship 4. However, he won at Martinsville in a similar predicament last year and ended up winning the overall title, so it’s definitely doable – he’s just got a little more at stake this year.

Logano, meanwhile, is ranked second, down one position since last week’s Power Rankings were released. He fell in behind Tyler Reddick, who powered to the win at Homestead with a high-side pass in the No. 45 Toyota TRD Camry, but that doesn’t mean he should be counted out. The driver of the No. 22 Mustang has a guaranteed slot in the Championship 4 thanks to his victory at Las Vegas last week, so he can afford to have a few “down” weekends before Phoenix as his NASCAR Ford team prepares for the title fight.

Like Blaney, Logano won at Martinsville in 2018 before earning his first Cup Series championship, so it’s entirely possible that he could do the same this weekend. He has just one finish outside the top 10 at Martinsville since that 2018 win, so it’s safe to say the No. 22 Mustang knows its way around the speedway.

The green flag for the Cup Series race at Martinsville is scheduled for Sunday, November 3rd, at 2 p.m. EST.
