When scouring an automotive auction site, most users probably expect to find vehicles up for sale, but occasionally, something that’s not on four wheels pops up for sale. In fact, several neon Ford signs have crossed the auction block, like a Ford jubilee crest, a neat Ford V8 sign, and a reproduction Ford script sign. Buyers in search of new garage décor can now bid on a unique neon Ford service sign that’s sure to catch eyes.
For sale on Bring a Trailer, this Ford service sign has a porcelain enamel face over a dark blue background. The Ford oval is encircled by white neon, with red “service” script situated inside an arrow that presumably points toward said service department. It’s a reproduction piece, and it’s quite large – it measures at approximately 60 inches by 18 inches tall, and has a metal support structure, mounting eye hooks, and 120-volt circuitry.
Lettering on the sign indicates that it was produced by Mulholland Sign Co. in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The listing notes that illumination is provided by red, white, and blue neon tubing that accentuates the sign’s shape. The eye hooks are fastened atop the sign’s metal structure for secure hanging, and the power cord exits from the top of the sign so that it can be neatly tucked out of the way to avoid being a tripping hazard.
The Ford service sign is being sold in Collins, New York, and is offered with a wooden shipping pallet to keep it secure during transport. The seller notes that they are very experienced in shipping signage worldwide and are able to ensure its safe transport. However, prospective buyers should note that because of the sign’s size, it could take up to two weeks to make it to its destination.
At the time of this writing, the high bid is $800, and the auction will remain open through November 30th, 2024.
