No, Elon Musk Is Not Acquiring Ford Motor Company

Fake news gets views. That’s the long and short of it. Recently, some “news” surfaced regarding Ford, seemingly indicating that Tesla founder, Elon Musk, is acquiring Ford Motor Company. Ford Authority is here to set the record straight, and don’t worry – there’s not a grain of truth to the supposed Musk acquisition.

The fake post surfaced on social media last week. A heavily doctored photo of Musk shaking hands with Ford CEO Jim Farley – which appears to have been made or altered using artificial intelligence (AI) – accompanied a wall of soulless text that also seems to be the work of an AI language model. The post states that Ford sold out “as a revolutionary step in the electric and autonomous vehicle market,” raising some eyebrows.

Ford Authority reached out to Ford for more information, and the automaker confirmed our suspicions.

“It’s absolutely fake,” Ford’s Ian Thibodeau told Ford Authority.

Simply put, there’s just no benefit for Ford to sell to Elon Musk. Sure, Musk has pioneered the electric vehicle industry with his EV manufacturer Tesla, but The Blue Oval is doing just fine without him. While the automaker scaled back its ambitious EV plans a bit, it still has eyes set on an all-electric lineup in the near future. Ford has been the No. 2 EV brand in the U.S. for several consecutive years, second only to Tesla.

“We are committed to innovating in America, creating jobs and delivering incredible new electric and hybrid vehicles that make a real difference in CO2 reduction,” Farley said in a statement released in August. “We learned a lot as the No. 2 U.S. electric vehicle brand about what customers want and value, and what it takes to match the best in the world with cost-efficient design, and we have built a plan that gives our customers maximum choice and plays to our strengths.”

  2. Funny how a member reported it in here as the truth. It was the first time I’d seen it and immediately knew it was fake, if, for no other reason that I doubt the Ford Family would ever sell. But many are having mushy brain syndrome these days and believe most everything.

  4. Astounding you were brave enough to label fake news to be fake. Would be nice to see that regularly in internet “news” sources, with similar big FAKE stamps on it. Can you Imagine almost every post on social media with a stamp, lol.

  5. Looking forward to Musk being prosecuted and convicted for espionage as Putin’s lapdog or at the very least, stripped of his US citizenship and deported to SA.
I’d actually settle for him to land on Mars and stay there.
Hopefully he can take Bone Spurs along for the ride.
