The lottery is one of those things that a lot of folks dream about winning one day – raking in enough money to truly change their lives – and yet, only a tiny, tiny percentage of people that play it actually win those big prizes. Oftentimes, lottery winners go out and buy fancy houses or cars, in some cases, Blue Oval models like the Ford F-150 Raptor, as we’ve seen on at least one occasion in the recent past. Now, that’s once again the case with a lottery winner in Pennsylvania, though they didn’t win a big cash prize – rather, they brought home a new 2024 Ford Bronco.
That person is Jodie Kavka, an Allegheny County resident who won the top prize in the Pennsylvania Lottery’s Keys and Cash Scratch-Off – a 2024 Ford Bronco – to which she was presented the keys for at Kenny Ross Ford South. Interestingly, Kavka was actually on a different sort of mission when she decided to also buy a lottery ticket. “I was going to the mall to buy clothes for my son. My family was going to the beach for vacation the next day,” she said. “People were at the drinking fountain, so I put my $5 bill in the lottery machine next to it.”
Ultimately, Kavka was offered either her choice of a new 2024 Ford Bronco or a $100,000 prize, but she chose the SUV for a very good reason. “I’m so grateful! I’m a recent breast cancer survivor and we were just talking about selling our second car before it breaks down to get some house repairs done,” she said. “I stay home every year to take care of my elderly mom. It felt like a present since I stay home every year when everyone goes on vacation.”
“Congratulations to Jodie. We’re thrilled to help her celebrate her big win and make sure that she has the keys to her new vehicle in time for the holiday season,” said Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne. “It’s loyal players like Jodie who help the Pennsylvania Lottery continue supporting programs for older Pennsylvanians that make a real difference all across Pennsylvania.”
