The Ford Equator officially debuted in China back in March 2021 as an all-new, upscale, three-row crossover for that market that’s produced by the passenger vehicle joint venture dubbed Jiangling Ford Motor Technology (Shanghai) Co. Ltd.. However, it didn’t officially launch in China until early 2023, and as Ford Authority reported earlier this year, a refreshed model was already in the works. Now, the refreshed Ford Equator has officially debuted, too.
The refreshed Ford Equator sports a new look on the outside, which the automaker calls “vacation inspired,” referring to it as a “rugged and adventurous yet luxurious aesthetic.” Along with slimmer LED headlights, an octagonal shield grille, and revised front and rear fascias, the updated model is the first in China to wear an “Equator” badge on its hood, plus an illuminated Equator badge out back. The new crystalline L-shaped headlights and full-width taillights present owners with welcome animations, while new 20-inch wheels sport aerodynamic covers, and customers can opt for a bevy of accessories such as a roof rack.
Inside the cabin, the refreshed Ford Equator gets updated styling as well, coupled with the same type of seven-seat arrangement. The revised dash sports a sound bar up top, while a new, double-layered seat design is intended to enhance shoulder support. Those that want a bit more luxury can opt for second-row captain’s chairs that recline and have massage functionality, coupled with a variety of unique touches such as Dinamica suede, metalized wood trim, and Oasis Green accents.
Perhaps the biggest news pertaining to the refreshed Ford Equator, however, relates to its powertrain options – or, more specifically, the addition of a plug-in hybrid variant. That combination consists of 1.5L gas engine generating 148 horsepower and an electric motor adding 81 hp for a combined output of 215 hp. The Equator PHEV utilizes a lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, but it’s unclear what sort of capacity or all-electric driving range it offers.

This would be a good fit to replace the Edge.
Agree, but that grille isn’t the most attractive.
